hiermit möchten wir Sie auf die aktuelle Ausschreibung von
Promotionsstipendien innerhalb des Doktorandenprogramms PharMetrX:
Pharmacometrics & Computational Disease Modelling (https://www.PharMetrX.de)
aufmerksam machen.

PharMetrX ist ein interdisziplinäres und strukturiertes Promotionsprogramm,
das die Brücke zwischen Pharmazie und Mathematik schlägt. PharMetrX bietet
eine exzellente Forschungsumgebung im Berlin-Potsdamer Raum, faszinierende
und innovative Forschungsprojekte von hoher Relevanz, eine echte
interdisziplinäre Betreuung durch die beiden PharMetrX Chairs, ein
individuelles Mentoring durch einen unserer Industriepartner sowie ein
attraktives 3,5-jähriges Stipendium. 

Im Rahmen des PharMetrX-Programms bieten wir zudem Austausch und Interaktion
innerhalb des PharMetrX-Promovierenden-Netzwerkes sowie ein
maßgeschneidertes Modul Curriculum

Modulen. Dieses führt in wichtige und relevante Themengebiete ein und ist
ebenfalls für Promovierende externer Arbeitsgruppen offen.

Bewerbungsschluss ist der 15. September 2023; das Modul Curriculum des neuen
Doktoranden-Jahrgangs startet im März 2024. 
 
Zum Hintergrund: PharMetrX ist ein gemeinsames
Forschungs-Ausbildungsprogramm der Freien Universität Berlin (Klinische
Pharmazie) und der Universität Potsdam (Mathematik & Systembiologie).
Der Assimilation experimenteller Daten in mathematisch/statistische Modelle
kommt eine immer wichtigere Bedeutung zu. Derartige Modelle erlauben es, die
Interaktion zwischen Arzneimittel und Patient/in vorherzusagen sowie den
Einfluss von Patienten/innen-Faktoren (Kovariablen) zu verstehen. Dadurch
gewinnt die Pharmakometrie nicht nur bei Entscheidungsprozessen in allen
Phasen der Arzneistoffentwicklung zunehmend an Bedeutung („Model-informed
Drug Discovery and Development"); sie stellt ebenfalls einen weiteren
entscheidenden Schritt in Richtung personalisierte Arzneimitteltherapie dar
(„Model-informed precision dosing“).

Insgesamt ein spannendes Gebiet mit hervorragenden beruflichen Chancen in
verschiedensten Richtungen, an der Universität, in größeren wie kleineren
forschenden pharmazeutischen Unternehmen, in außeruniversitären
Forschungsinstituten/Consultant-Instituten, Zulassungsbehörden etc.

Dear interested students of the final semesters,

We would like to draw your attention to the current announcement for PhD
scholarships within the PharMetrX: Pharmacometrics & Computational Disease
Modelling PhD program (https://www.PharMetrX.de).

PharMetrX is an interdisciplinary and structured doctoral program that
bridges the gap between pharmacy and mathematics. PharMetrX offers an
excellent research environment in the Berlin-Potsdam area, fascinating and
innovative research projects of high relevance, true interdisciplinary
supervision by the two chairs of the program, an individual mentorship by
one of our industry partners and an attractive 3.5-year scholarship. 

Within the PharMetrX program we also offer exchange and interaction within
the PharMetrX PhD network as well as a tailor-made module curriculum
(https://www.pharmetrx.de/training/curriculum.html) of several one-week
modules. This module curriculum introduces important and relevant topics and
is also open to PhD students from external research groups.

The application deadline is 15 September 2023; the module curriculum of the
new PharMetrX PhD year starts in March 2024. 

Some background: PharMetrX is a joint research training program of Freie
Universität Berlin (clinical pharmacy) and the University of Potsdam
(mathematics & systems biology). The assimilation of experimental data into
mathematical/statistical models is becoming increasingly important. Such
models make it possible to predict the interaction between drug and patient
and to understand the influence of patient factors (covariates). As a
result, pharmacometrics is not only becoming increasingly important in
decision-making processes in all phases of drug development ("Model-informed
Drug Discovery and Development"); it also represents a further decisive step
towards personalised drug therapy ("Model-informed precision dosing"). 

All in all, this is an exciting field with excellent career opportunities in
a wide variety of fields, at university, in large and small research-based
pharmaceutical companies, in non-university research institutes/consultant
institutes, regulatory authorities, etc.
