Your responsibilities


Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.

The project strives to advance simulation technology by machine learning methods. The research associate will particularly contribute to the following tasks:

*	development of robust and rapid switching approaches between molecular simulation and data-driven surrogates in coupled molecular-continuum simulations
*	development of novel generative machine learning-assisted methods to reduce equilibration efforts in molecular and molecular-continuum simulations
*	publication and reporting of project results, e.g. in peer-reviewed international journals
*	presentation of project results at scientific conferences and workshops
*	participation in project meetings and regular telephone conferences

All developments are to be integrated into the molecular dynamics software ls1 mardyn/AutoPas and the macro-micro-coupling tool (MaMiCo). Both packages are open-source and available on github.


Your profile


A university degree in a relevant field.

This comprises fields such as computer science, data science, applied mathematics or comparable subjects.

Expected skills:

*	solid object-oriented programming skills, preferably in C++
*	solid knowledge of machine learning methods
*	knowledge of scientific computing, in particular particle simulations and parallel computing (OpenMP, MPI)
*	proficiency in written and spoken English
*	interest in interdisciplinary collaborations and teamwork, in particular with project partners from the Technical University of Munich
*	communication skills towards project partners and associated parties from applied mathematics, computer science and engineering
*	desirable: proficiency in written and spoken German
