Research Associate for the Project “Flexible Production Solution Based on Intelligent Scheduling System” § 28 Subsection 3 HmbHG


Institution: Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences, 
Department of Informatics, Group TAMS (Technical Aspects of Multimodal 
Systems)

Salary level: EGR. 13 TV-L

Start date: 01.02.2022 or as soon as possible, fixed until 31.01.2024 
(this is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the 
academic fixed-term labor contract act [Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, 
WissZeitVG])

Scope of work: full-time position suitable for part-time


Responsibilities

Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research 
associates may also pursue independent research and further academic 
qualifications.
Specific Duties

- developing the main algorithm for production scheduling. It is a 
fusion of policy-based reinforcement learning and a genetic algorithm
- organizing and training data according to the data structure and the 
user requirement of the target company. Based on it, building the 
prototype model for the Proof-of-Concept environment
- data framework documentation, including the content of data structure 
requirement, preprocessing method, data streaming framework, algorithm 
output format, and so on
- application of the algorithms in a robot-based flexible production system

Requirements

A university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate. Experience in 
reinforcement learning methods, real robot manipulation programming, and 
robot applications for service or production.
