Dear Students,
Use your skills in mobile web development and data analysis for good: help
us to predict and prevent psychological crisis based on smartphone data!
At the Digital Health Center of the Hasso Plattner Institute
(https://hpi.de/digital-health-center), we are looking for a student
assistant (10h/week) for a cutting-edge research project at the
intersection of computer science and psychology
(https://hpi.de/digital-health-center/research/topics/predicting-psychological-crisis.html).
Together with a team of software-developers and researchers, you will be
working on web technologies to provide individuals with a short-time
prediction of an imminent psychological crisis.
What are your tasks?
- Further development of smartphone applications to track
behavior (e.g. voice, facial expressions, social interactions) based on
existing solutions
- Anonymization and integration of data from different social
platforms (e.g. facebook, whatsapp, google)
- Extraction and visualization of actionable insights from
collected data to the user (e.g. changes in social interactions over time)
- Usability testing of mobile prototypes and web platforms
What do we expect (required)?
- You are studying computer science or an equivalent subject
- You have some experience in development of smartphone
and/or web applications: JavaScript/Java, React, CSS and HTML
What would we love (plus)?
- You have worked with Scala or another backend
language/framework (e.g. Node, Django)
- You have experience in data management, mining and
visualization (e.g. Python including Numpy, Scipy, Pandas and Matplotlib)
- You have analyzed voice, facial expression or social
interaction data before
