BIOQIC ( <http://www.bioqic.de> www.bioqic.de) offers two PhD positions at
the interface of Computer Science to Heart Medicine (PhD1) and Prostate
Medicine (PhD4).

PhD1 is about dose reduction and image registration in 4D CT examinations of
the heart. The goal of the PhD position is to apply techniques from
compressed sensing combined with a suitably chosen representation system to
provide sparse approximations of key features of the given data for reducing
ionizing radiation while at the same time enabling accurate quantification
of myocardial perfusion. The candidate should ideally hold a Master or
Diploma degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or
Medicine. Medical image analysis background and technical knowledge in
programming and scripting (Python, Matlab, C++, Java), prior experience with
image registration and reconstruction, as well as image processing packages
(ITK, VTK, Slicer, etc) are appreciated.


PhD4 will develop and apply convolutional neural networks to detect prostate
cancer using MRI. The goal of the PhD position is to develop novel methods
for evaluation of prostate cancer that allow automatic detection and
quantitative grading of tumor aggressiveness. Such methods are based on deep
learning using convolutional neural networks or fractal analysis. The
candidate should ideally hold a Master or Diploma degree in Computer
Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Medicine. Medical image
analysis background and technical knowledge in programming and scripting
(Python, Matlab, C++, Java), training in architecture and programming of
convolutional neural networks (e.g. Theano, TensorFlow), as well as image
processing packages (ITK, VTK, Slicer, etc) are appreciated.

Im Graduiertenkolleg BIOQIC ( <http://www.bioqic.de> www.bioqic.de) sind
zwei PhD Stellen an der Schnittstelle von Informatik zur Herzmedizin (PhD1)
und Prostatamedizin (PhD4) zu vergeben.


Bei PhD1 geht es um die Dosisreduktion und Bildregistrierung bei 4D CT
Untersuchungen des Herzens. Das Ziel der Promotion besteht darin, mittels
compressed sensing Methoden eine erhebliche Reduktion der notwendigen
Strahlenexposition bei gleichzeitiger Bewegungskorrektur für die
zuverlässige Quantifizierung der Myokardperfusion zu erzielen. Der Kandidat
sollte idealerweise einen Master-oder Diplom-Abschluss in Informatik,
Physik, Mathematik, Ingenieurwesen oder Medizin vorweisen. Ein Hintergrund
in medizinischer Bildanalyse und technische Kenntnisse in Programmierung und
Skripting (Python, Matlab, C ++, Java), Erfahrungen mit Bildregistrierung
und Rekonstruktion sowie Bildverarbeitungspakete (ITK, VTK, Slicer, etc.)
wären vorteilhaft.


PhD4 wird convolutional neural networks zur Erkennung von Prostatakrebs mit
MRT entwickeln und anwenden. Das Ziel der Promotion ist die Entwicklung
neuer Methoden für die Analyse von Prostatakrebs, die eine automatische
Erkennung und quantitative Bewertung der Tumoraggressivität ermöglichen.
Solche Methoden beruhen auf deep learning mit neuronalen Netzwerken oder der
Fraktalanalyse. Der Kandidat sollte idealerweise einen Master-oder
Diplom-Abschluss in Informatik, Physik, Mathematik, Ingenieurwesen oder
Medizin vorweisen. Ein Hintergrund in medizinischer Bildanalyse und
technische Kenntnisse in Programmierung und Skripting (Python, Matlab, C ++,
Java), Vorerfahrungen zur Architektur und in der Programmierung von
convolutional neural networks (z.B. Theano, TensorFlow) sowie
Bildverarbeitungspakete (ITK, VTK, Slicer, etc.) wären vorteilhaft.
