Paid student job/Internship opening on advanced biomedical database
research and development

The Center for Comprehensive Informatics at Emory University has immediate
opening for a student job. In this position, the successful candidate will
conduct leading-edge research and development of a large scale biomedical
database platform to support integrative biomedical research. Tasks include
data modeling, data curation, development of advanced queries, database
optimization, maintenance and deployment of the system, and scaling the
databases with distributed and parallel database infrastructure.  The
student will get hands-on experience on advanced database technologies such
as spatial databases, XML databases,  parallel databases or MapReduce.

Requirements:
-Good knowledge of relational databases, experiences of data modeling and
SQL
-Good Java programming skills, and software engineering practice
-Familiar with XML
-Excellent interpersonal communication  skills a must
-Graduate student preferred
-Long term preferred
