Department of Mathematics and Computer Science - Institute of Computer Science - Secure Identity Research Group
Student assistant (m/f/d) 41 h/month limited to 1 year; reference code: AGSI_2023.2_Studi_SW
Deadline for applications: April 8, 2024

About:

The Secure Identity Research Group led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Volker Roth investigates technical methods of protecting individual information security and privacy, and the impact of information technology within the areas of surveillance and social conflicts.

Job description:

Are you a student of computer science or a related field and are interested in the question of how greater transparency regarding the direct democratic process of the state of Berlin can be achieved by means of computer science?
As part of two software projects, the functional model of a web application has been developed which is intended to create transparency concerning the referendums conducted in the state of Berlin. The functional model has not yet been entirely finalized. In order to be able to evaluate it, some technical work still needs to be completed. For example, the front and back ends remain to be merged.
Your task will be to carry out this work and to support the PhD candidate carrying out the project with the technical evaluation. The evaluation should be conducted in cooperation with the NGO "Mehr Demokratie", and the functional model should therefore be implemented in the NGO's technical environment.

Desirable:

- knowledge of VueJS/PHP/Symfony
- experience in software development projects would be appreciated - proficiency in written and spoken German and English at a level of at least B2

Applications should be sent by email, together with significant documents, indicating the reference code, in PDF format (preferably as one document) to Anna Maria Hengst: anna.hengst at fu-berlin.de<mailto:anna.hengst at fu-berlin.de>
