Hello,

HP Labs Bristol is offering an internship for an MSc student or MSc graduate
with good Java skills and a strong interest in research:

"Project: Big Data for Security

We are looking for candidates interested in working at HP Labs, Bristol, in
the Big Data for Security project. This project aims at identifying new,
unknown security threats and issues by collecting, storing analysing and
visualising massive amounts of data. HP Labs have developed a fully working
solution (GUI and distributed backend analytical solution), currently under
transfer to HP Business Units and used in a few trials with HP customers.
This
solution needs to be further refined and extended in its backend components
(web server, REST API, java modules and RDBMS DB) to support additional
types of data and new big data analytics.

The ideal candidate is a person that has strong interest in researching,
designing and developing enterprise-based software, primarily in Java. He/she
has interests in distributed systems and good knowledge of Java programming
and related frameworks, web servers, REST services and APIs, databases and
SQL. Interest and knowledge in big data analytics, Scala programming language
and web GUI development are welcome. The intern will work in a highly
motivated
and distributed team (Bristol and US), in the context of an ongoing
technology
transfer and further R&D activities. He/she need to be a team worker and
motivated
to deliver good quality, working prototypes that can be used for customer
demonstrations and to showcase to HP business groups."

The internship duration is 6 months, ideally starting in April, but later
starting
dates are acceptable (however, starting dates after June 2015 may become
problematic)
If you are interested, please contact Marco Casassa Mont
(marco.casassa-mont at hp.com)
for further details.

Thank you,

Philipp Reinecke
