The Research Training Group for Computational Systems Biology (CSB) 
comprises 12 PhD and 1 postdoctoral projects devoted to the development 
of new theoretical concepts and their application to current and 
upcoming problems in cell and molecular biology. The CSB consortium 
comprises five well known institutes in Berlin: the Humboldt-Universität 
zu Berlin, the Freie Universität Berlin, the Charité - 
Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Max Planck Institute for Molecular 
Genetics, and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine 
Berlin-Buch. The research topics are grouped in four pillars: (i) 
structural investigation of protein-protein and protein-RNA 
interactions, (ii) detailed kinetic models of cellular processes, (iii) 
reverse engineering for prediction of genetic network from new types of 
data, and (iv) spatio-temporal organization of networks.
