I've used Ant a lot longer than Maven.  Our company did an evaluation and we
made the move.  It's been wonderful and all of our very opinionated pro-Ant
people are now the biggest pro-Maven users.  (It just works.)

I can't say what is the best choice for this project, but I would disregard
most of the ranting blog articles out there.  Or if you choose to read them,
allocate a few months and read them all and keep your bs filter handy. :)

Regardless of the choice, most likely you'll be updating your system to take
advantage of the Maven repositories for distributing artifacts.  It's something
that Ivy and Gradle also make use of.
